Design Principle of Extrusion Head

The head is an important part of pipe extrusion production line. Here, we briefly introduce the design principles of the head as follows:

1.  The reasonable head design should be adjustable, that is, the geometry of the flow channel can be adjusted by adjusting the exhaust, flow limiting bolt and valve, or the temperature can be adjusted by changing the die temperature.

2. Keep the flow channel smooth, the flow channel with symmetrical structure should be smooth and streamlined, and no sudden changes, dead corners and stagnant areas are allowed to ensure the smooth flow of the melt. The flow channel should be designed symmetrically, and the wall thickness should not be too thick, so as to the heat, pressure, and flow evenly. 

3. The flow channel can form pressure and has sufficient strength. The flow channel of the head must have a certain compression ratio to make the materials produce the required pressure in the head. Therefore, the structural design of the head must ensure sufficient strength under the required pressure.

4. The structure shall be reasonable. Since the machine head is often replaced in the production process, its structure shall be convenient for assembly, disassembly and maintenance, and easy to process and manufacture.
