Classification of extruders’ screws

Screw is the main part of extrusion system. The change of the geometry of its parts directly affects the working performance of the screw. It has a very significant impact on the output and quality of plastic products.

According to the structure of the screw and the geometry of the screw thread, it can be divided into ordinary screw, new screw and exhaust screw.

1. Ordinary screw: ordinary screw extruder is a widely used extruder, which can extrude powder and particles. The screw thread part can be divided into feeding section, plasticizing section and homogenizing section. Compared with the new screw, the common screw has many shortcomings and is gradually replaced by the new screw.

2. New screw: compared with ordinary screw, non threaded components are designed on different parts of the screw to improve the mixing, melting and plasticizing quality of plastics and shorten the extrusion production time.

3. Exhaust screw: a screw specially designed to remove air, volatile gas and water vapor from the material during the extrusion process.
